September 15th- First Training Session

 

Magazine Training

Cheez-It was magazine trained in less than 9 minutes. However, in total it took around 20 minutes for training with Makala. We did not have to spend two days training Cheez-It because she caught on pretty easily. In order for us to tell if Cheez-It was magazine trained she had to get the food in less than three seconds after it was dispensed. At first, she was confused but eventually caught on to where the food was being dispensed. She was stressed at first during the process. This is where I first learned about the aggressive/frustrated grooming that she does. After she got the hang of how the box worked, she adjusted fine. This was similar to the class discussion, in which we talked about which Cheez-It knew where to find the chocolate pellets.
